About the project

This is a very special project that I loved to be involved in. I have been living in Scotland for 6 years now and having the opportunity to develop a visual identity that capture Tweedsmuir’s rich history and stunning natural beauty felt like a gift.

The project involved three different levels of design: branding, web design and social media ideation with the main goal of creating an online presence to promote the village and its local businesses.

Branding

Tweedsmuir Logo

Tweedsmuir logo concept goal is to transmit the landscape and nature of the area, as well as a feeling of a hospitable environment.

Branding Manual

Apart from creating the brand and defining its elements, such as the colour palette, typography, fonts, and iconography library, I also defined the brand’s personality and its values. Creating guidelines to ensure cohesive and effective use of the visual identity and keep the use and the message consistent along time.

Tweedsmuir Webpage

Proabably the main goal when designing Tweedsmuir’s webpage was capturing the beauty of the place and its landscapes while highlighting its history. I tried to create a simple journey that would encourage visitors to explore the area’s walking routes and discover its charm for themselves. The webpage features stunning visuals from the area, historical information, and interactive maps to showcase the area’s natural beauty and promote it as a must-visit destination.

Home

When designing the home page of the Tweedsmuir website, my main goal was to capture the essence of the place and invite users to discover its history and walks.

The design stayed aligned to the brand's style by integrating elements such as the colour palette and typography along the different elements. Dividing it in sections dedicated to the various walks and routes, each expanding on their own page.

The whole was aiming for a visually appealing and engaging home page that captured the unique character of Tweedsmuir and invited users to explore the village by themselves.

History page

This page required to integrate an interactive map that highlighted the area's most significant locations, each with unique stories and relevant historical characters.

The challenge was to use a clear and concise design that made navigation simple and intuitive so users could focus on exploring the rich history and culture of Tweedsmuir.

History Walks

There is different ways to discover Tweedsmuir: walking, cycling, and road routes. This part was inviting the user to discover them all, while facilitating all the essential information they could need to plan their outdoor activities in the area.

Covering the length of the routes in time and distance, the difficulty of each walk, and the points of interest along the way. I also linked it to the historical facts and legends, connecting visitors to the "history" of the area.

To give a first hint of the bbeauty of Tweedsmuir, I added high-quality photos the area's landscapes.

Community page

After being deeply involved in the project, I got to see that the actual soul of Tweedsmuir is its people. That is why the "Community" page was a big part of the site.

This section contains the various community projects, events, and initiatives that contribute to the village's charm and character. Additionally, there is a news section that keeps visitors up to date on the latest happenings in Tweedsmuir.

Socials ideation

To help Tweedsmuir Village to promote their new brand I also created a social media starting plan, all compiled into a comprehensive manual that allow them to scale and keep consistency in their social media presence over time.

It included basic designs for Instagram posts, the general look and structure of the Instagram feed, and a plan that could be built upon over time. Also, a Facebook profile design with goals and ideas for posts.

Instagram posts

I designed an Instagram feed for Tweedsmuir that alternated landscape photographs with text and graphics about historical facts. The goal was to keep it simple and easy for them to maintain and iterate, ensuring the channel remained active.
